My son (adult) wants a Scorpion and as its his birthday next month I thought I might buy him one.

What I need to know is how big a container will a 2nd instar need and have any of you kept more than one in the same container, if so are they ok? Will they be ok on coco fibre?

Let's get mass to chime in here. He's all about the scorps at the moment. Wanted a couple for my B-day this month but my family isn't into exotics. I'll no doubt get another coffee cup. Lol

HELP! @MassExodus

Heterometrus can't be housed together as scorplings...im finding out that its not safe for any of them. I've lost 2 H cyaneus, and a few buthids now..they seem to get along fine until someone molts..at second instar, you're looking at 1\2 " sling sized enclosures. And coco fiber is fine, id put a false bottom with gravel for any Forrest scorp, they like it moist :)

Keep us updated Enn, or ask your son to post pics. I'm curious about petersi, they're supposed to get a little bigger than most of the others I think. I'm looking for a Swammerdammi atm. Should have never gotten myself banned from AB I suppose. I know someone there has some..Im lucky enough to have found a connect to someone who's going to be bringing some rather rare sp into the hobby here though ;) Muhahahaaaaa! Lots of them:D I will build a scorpion empire, and I will take a queen. And when she pisses me off my scorpions will escort her to the prison tower, where she will be my slave, and make huevos rancheros and chorizo, potato, and cheese tacos until I'm fat and can't move without my motorized scorpion throne.

I tried to do a group of forest scorpions over the last few months, started with 8 4cm scorpions after 10 weeks I was down to four, so I decided to put an end to it a housed them separately, was a tottal disaster.
On the plus side though I had 4 well feed scorps

Not sure if you're familiar with buthids, but as adults they're cool together. Its the molting..nice soft dinner is apparently irresistible, even to a well fed scorp. But adults get along fine. Still, I have read many threads where people report no cannibalizing, most particularly C gracilis. Unfortunately two of my 3i gracilis ate two of the others..so...yeah.

We have decided to get 2 but house them separately at least until they grow.. Could they be put together when they get bigger?

Enn I'm actually not sure about petersi, but they say many adults can live in peace as long as they've got plenty of space and hides. Male and female adults should be the best bet, ideally, I think. But yeah, I've seen a lot of people with adult Heterometrus colonies. They seem to do fine as adults..but dont take my word for it ;)

Thank you. He may decide to try it when they grown up.

I have finally ordered 2 little ones and I'm hoping they'll be here next week. In the meantime my son has collected bits for decor and set up 2 identical containers ready for them.

Containers are 13.5cm x 7.5cm x 6cm with a layer of gravel in the bottom and coco fibre on top with spagnum moss, wood, cork bark and a piece of plant. Will these be ok for them?

@Telson I was hoping you'd tell me if these containers will be ok
Perfection :) Theyll love them. I have my cyaneus in similar set ups. I have less cover for them because im selfish and want to find them easily, but yours will make them more comfortable ;)
