Has anyone seen a scar like this on a mexican red knee after a molt.the humidity is within normal range .so far it doesn't seem to bother her but I've never seen a white patch after a molt before.the molt before this one she did on her side not on her back .she's around 7 and eats an average of 3 or so crickets a week. She didn't act sluggish or get a dark spot on her abdomen during premolt like normal.please let me know if this is normal or should it be cause for concern.thanks everybody.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

It could be that it got hurt during the molt, but if it doesn't seem to bother the T and it eats well after the molt, then I would not be worried about it.

How long ago was the molt and have you tried feeding her again?

If she does eat then this will be rectified with her next molt.

Beautiful T you have there by the way. How big is it now?

The molt was this morning and truth be told she ate yesterday so i had no clue she going to molt or even in premolt.talk about a morning surprise.I'll reintroduce food in about 12 to 14 days.she was 4.5 inches after the previous molt,i have yet to measure her after this one for obvious reasons.i joined the form today to get other peoples input on the gash on her.I've never seen another t with that weird white line down her.thanks for the feedback.fingers crossed I'm just overreacting and she regenerates it back with her next molt

That's very odd yes. Taking food so close to a molt. It does happen quite often with smaller T's though. To tell you the truth, I haven't seen a "scar" like that either, so it's a first for me too. Well good luck and keep us posted. B. Smithi's are quite hardy so I'm sure your T will be just fine.

I have a juvenile B. smithi. I am confident that if I fed her every day, she would eat. She is an eating machine! Mine ate about 2 days prior to molt. Only spider I have that has eaten that close to the molt.

She seems to be doing just fine after molt.she's just stretching out in her terrarium.she likes laying completely flat afterwords.skully(her name)has allways been a very aggressive eater but with her last molt she refused food for a month before.i truly had no clue she was in premolt.my main concern is the weird white line down her.the exoskeleton looks folded in that area so i think she may have damaged herself during the molt but so far no one has seen another t with that marking before.thanks for the help
