    So I thought it was a great idea to try and handle my H.Gigas just to show what a badass/idiot I am.... No! I got tagged! There was an initial wasp sting feeling while the T was clamped on my hand, pinch grabbed her off while beginning to shake like a leaf and put her back... Pain starts to bring me to my knees, excruciating PAIN OMG for around an hour... I cleaned the wound thoroughly once I could stand... Arm is cramping on and off all day roughly 10 hours after bite... DO NOT GET BIT BY A BABOON T! Here's the bite

    Me too, I'm still being sick... Cramps are now worse than ever... I've taken inflammatory pills from the doctor, he seemed concerned about my heart rate too... I have to say that the Tarantula involved is perfectly fine and only defending itself from a big muppet lol! Hehe she juiced me big time, very painful! :(

    If it helps this was what I found about treatment of OBT bites, it could work but may need a hospital visit. I'd take details of the T and this.

    Muscular relaxants

    If you don't have a way to something stronger I would suggest 1g of acetaminophen every 6-8 hours (Tylenol or some other off brand doesn't matter much. This will help aches, pain, and any fever) 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of naproxen every 12 hours (motrinamdadvil respectively, one or the other not both. This will help any inflammation and fever as well. Take this with food or milk.) And 10mg every 24 hours of Loratadine (Claritin a non drowsy benadryl.) This is all Dependant of allergies to medicine as well as possible stomach ulser issues. These are all over the counter medications. Also, drink a liter of water every hour and a glass of orange juice every 2-4 hours. Especially if you start throwing up. Citric acid is an electrolyte that will help retain the water you take in and the water itself will help your body metabolize and flush the venom

    almost looks like she drug her fangs along your hand. one reason i won't let my son get any baboons ;) he loves to handle his T's. At least he's smart enough not to try handling his P. vittata.

    How much liquid courage did you have before this? :p

    Haha yeah he's smarter than me (wouldn't be hard though lol) I had no alcohol only reef lol... Yeah she got me more than once, I had to pinch grab her off me she was clamped on so I think that's where I probably done more damage to myself... At least she's safe and unhurt which in my eyes is the main thing... I debated about whether to say anything because this hobby doesn't need bad press but it's better to educate if bitten imo... I'm feeling a lot better and I've won another day off work :D

    @Shampain I'm glad you're feeling better.

    At least it proves that Ts are not the killers some people think they are so it is still educates folks in a good way.

    Exaclty right Ennie... I'm not scared of them or anything now but handling is now not an option for me anymore as I've learned some respect that they don't want it or need it and it could turn bad quickly... I'm quietly proud of myself for not flapping and hurting her, it was hard to fight my instincts to launch her across the room... Life lesson, learned :)

    @Shampain Good. As you say at least she's ok and you're improving. I learnt respect for snakes the hard way and just carried it over to my Ts.

    Yes, I've been tagged many times. The worst were 2 of my 9' boas, there's a lot of power behind their strikes so there are bruises as well as blood and then by Western Hognose and False Water Cobra, both rear fanged and hand came up like a football almost to the elbow from both bites.
