I enjoyed reading this thread. I currently have 7 arboreal slings. They are all pretty tiny. Is this type of enclosure too big for the tinier slings? How big should the little suckers be before putting them in such an enclosure? Right now mine are in 16 oz drink cups with the dome type top, upside down dirt in dome. These enclosures look too big to me. I am wondering if I shouldn't put them in larger vials until they get bigger?

Hello
I used smaller containers for mine, these can be seen in the Club Avicularia thread.

I won't keep Avic slings in vials, it's too easy for them to get too moist and stuffy. All of my Avics get 16 oz deli cups which is fine to start a 1/2" sling in.

Ok, thanks. I am having trouble getting my three tiny A. diversipes to eat in the larger enclosure. I think I need to glue some leaf stuff from the top for them so they can web up better. Then I can drop the cricket into the web as described here.

I keep all my Avic slings (including diversipes) in 16 oz deli cups with 2 or 3 rings of small holes around the upper sides, with an inch of dry substrate, a piece of cork and/or plastic plant, and a small water bowl. The biggest mistake people make with Avics is over misting, using moist substrate, and inadequate ventilation. Moist, stuffy cages kill a lot of them.

Be sure to keep the humidity up this species requires a very good amount of humidity (70%-80%). Gotta be especially careful about this with slings as well. I see people losing avic slings all the time and I'm sure it's often related to humidity.

A water can supply the humidity (which they do with all of mine). With Avics its better to be a little too dry than a little too moist.

I have 3 terrestrial T's and they are smaller than your T and mine have a bigger enclosure and are fine with feeding so i would not worry.
