Thanks for the reply! She's fine now. Went off without any problems, definitely unusual! But entertaining)

Well let this be a lesson. If your spider ever derps up like mine. It's probably going to be ok.

T Molting Support Group for Noobs*

I've been searching for about 15 minutes. I've found examples of tarantulas molting on their stomach, or side. But my tarantula is molting on its ass pressed up against the enclosure. Should I leave it alone?

True spiders creep anyone else out?

I don't like true spiders either, and I'll probably die of a heart attack from one someday, but I try to let them live as well.

    That feeling when

Your tiny sling without warning molts from an inconspicuous generic black butt into a solid juvenile! Really starting to look like a real b. Albopilosum. He molted Sunday night. Now he's super hyperactive and crawls about non stop. He used to be a great rock before. And he's easily twice as...

True spiders creep anyone else out?

Yep, in fact yesterday I almost had a heart attack after my curly hair sling molted. I put the molt aside to show my girlfriend later, and when I opened the closet to get it at first I thought there was a wolf spider there, and scared me half to death. I like Ts but other spiders freak me out.

Hi. I'm Matt and I'm stupid.

Thanks for the warm reception! One thing I have noticed is that the vast majority of people who collect Ts are very helpful and open to newcomers. One of the many reasons to love this hobby! I finally worked up the courage to handle the Chaco yesterday. I've handled the smaller guy twice now I...

    Weird Behavior? Can't explain

+2. Whatever your stance is on handling, it's his job. Take it up with the zoo if you have a problem with the policy. A four paragraph soliloquy on why your method is the best and only method doesn't particularly get us any closer to finding out the root of some peculiar behavior which may or...

    Concerned new tarantula owner

This might be a little old, but a bit of advice I learned today. I remember from getting my haircut when I was a kid my mom would say "Start with a little, you can always do more". Well I applied this to the substrate water trick. I used about half of what they recommended (Using eco earth...

Hi. I'm Matt and I'm stupid.

As was discussed here --> http://www.tarantulaforum.com/threads/new-in-moscow.5195/ I have a bit of a geographical problem. However. I couldn't wait. My girlfriend of all people told me to just buy 'a freaking spider' already. She made the point that I'll find out if the hobby is right for me...

    New in Moscow!

Thanks everybody for the replies! The level of knowledge and the courtesy towards newcomers is very refreshing in this hobby! Also, it seems that almost everyday I 'discover' a new species that I would be interested in. Yesterday it was Aphonapelma sp New River. Today the P. Scrofa. Now I...

    New in Moscow!

Ghost, Thank you for the thoughtful and truthful answer. It is what I was pretty much expecting. I checked the Center for Disease Control website and they have almost every animal under the sun listed, except for spiders. Well, I will take your advice then and hold off for a few more months...
