    G.rosea, social or false pretence

My Rosie likes being out in her cage instead of the den we made for her. The only time she used the den was to molt. Now she's trying to live under her smaller than before water dish again. She is easy to hold and likes the laptop heat vent where she can lurk for houseflies (she got bored with...

How do you think they climb?

The first one they studied was a Costa Rican zebra tarantula; somebody said "phooey", so the second study was done with Chilean rose hairs. Sorry this took so long. It's a new phone and it delights in frustrating me. This what I was reading and it put it across like all tarantulas do this...

How do you think they climb?

I was curious myself and had to look it up.

How do you think they climb?

Spelling: touche. Actually, depending on the tarantula, they either use tarsi (claws), scopulae (hair tufts), or webbing. Pretty fascinating.

    Back water reptiles

I didn't hear anything bad about them until I bought my Rosie from them. I never thought to read the review on them, duh. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed everything stays okay, like it seems to be for now. But I know now never to order anything from them. They have the worst rep, like...

    No access on Tapatalk app?

That's so weird. I have Tapatalk on my phone and have never had problems accessing TarantulaForums. I have to access it thru the forum lists, it won't do the main feed thing, but it works okay for me. Keep trying and don't give up.

    Mold?

You can take no chances with mold. If you think it might be, it probably is, and you need to take it out ASAP. Don't try to clean it and put it back in, just get rid of it. Mold's really persistent and will return. Time to go shopping?

    New guy over here

Welcome. My rose hair is named Rosie too. Yours are so lovely. Congrats.

    Advice for b.smithi

At least you can see yours. Mine stays under water dish in her burrow and all I mostly see is mounds of dirt she's pushed out while excavating. They just aren't the most mobile of pets. But I love mine anyway.

Havent seen my Chilean rose hair in over 2 weeks

Well, that answers my question, too. Mine has been hiding for a month and been excavating her entire enclosure.

    Crickets Vs. Roaches

Looked into Dubias and got some for Rosie. Also, superworms. Management doesn't know about the roaches. Does feeding without tongs make Ts more aggressive? Rosie attacks anything put into her tank these days.

    Crickets Vs. Roaches

I am glad to hear there are roaches that are not the same as Asian or German roaches. I'll have to research Dubias. But my Rosie still loves her crickets.

    Crickets Vs. Roaches

I love crickets for the simple fact they are available at my local feed store (there are no pet stores in Barstow now since Adorable Pets folded 2 years ago). I do mind their smell and try to keep it at a minimum, but I don't mind their singing. Besides, management of our apartment would blow a...

    Is It Normal?

Thanks for replying. That's what my son did. He duct taped inside and outside so that nothing sticky was showing and Rosie had no holes to climb out. As far as injuries, I put her in a small terrarium to examine her. Nothing seems wrong with her at this point. I feel less like a worried parent...

    Is It Normal?

My Rosie's aquarium had a close encounter with our cat. He fell thru the screen and tore the screen loose from the sides where it is sealed. (He was trying to reach the bird and the rat, not mess with the tarantula.) We tried ordering a top. It was the wrong size. So we re-ordered right size and...
