    Weird Behavior? Can't explain

HungryGhost, Poec, you've stated your opinion. Please return this thread to it's original topic. I'm curious about the answer.

Help me get started with my sling please.

I have two pulchripes, of very different sizes (one is 2", the other .5"). I keep my sling in a clear vial with holes drilled in it. It's probably 2" diameter. Bone dry substrate is fine, it's a desert tarantula and handles dry humidity well. Just mist lightly once a week or so on the side of...

T Molting Support Group for Noobs*

This month has been amazing for molts, each time is nerve racking but oh so exciting :)

    Mystery Species

Also, it looks like your T is wet in one image. Be sure not to mist them as they definitely don't like getting wet. :)

    Mystery Species

I can't really see any defining features in those photos, could you take a better one from a top-side view? Like the image I attached:

    Mystery Species

We can try, post some pictures!

    Mystery Species

This is my mystery species. Less skittish, loves to dig, increased prey response and growth, lighter pink-ish color, less banding on the legs, and an oddly shaped spiked half-circle mark on abdomen. Additionally, there's a faint chevron mark that runs from the abdomen to the caraspace.

    Mystery Species

I'm almost sure this is the Geniculata. It molted a few days ago to reveal dark coloration and white banding on the legs. It's skittish and doesn't move much dirt (i.e. doesn't really dig). The entire back half of the rump has a circular round mark. Growth has been slower than it's counterpart.

    Mystery Species

I bought two A. Geniculata from paul's T's a while back and got two very similar little slings. However, as time has gone on the similarities have... faded. Appearance, behavior, growth, everything about these two guys differ. I'm now almost sure they are not the same species, especially after...

    Haplopelma extended molt?

I've heard of spiders chilling in their burrow for over a month after a molt before. I've even heard of T's disappearing for a year or more. It's probably nothing. :) How big is it?

    Substrate and moss

I used mine to fill up an XL Herp Haven that I use as a microclimate. That way I can maintain humidity levels for my spiders without disturbing them by opening their enclosures.

An Update on my first OBT Sling

You can't see it very well but the hide is attached to the web, under the dirt. He ran out because it had attached the hide to the roof, which lifted it right up when I took the lid off. I managed to attach the web to the rim with some success so hopefully he doesn't re-web the lid and hide...

An Update on my first OBT Sling

This is a picture I took immediately after: Opening the tuppaware to mist it, unaware Obi had webbed it's burrow to the lid. Watching as it exploded out of it's hide towards the wall, up the wall, and nearly down the other side. Desperately trying to keep it from escaping with a paintbrush...

How to get your tarantula used to being handled

Just be safe and careful, respectful and confident :) Rosehairs are naturally docile so it'll go fine. If it is feeling cranky and throws hairs or a threat pose, back off and try again later.

How to get your tarantula used to being handled

It'll never actually get used to you handling it. Some are just naturally docile and others aren't. The easiest and safest way is to lay your hand flat and use a paintbrush to gently nudge your T onto your hand. When it settles down, slowly move your hand and viola, you're handling. Be careful...
