I'm not saying a beginner shouldn't get something a little more difficult to care for. I know people that chose pokies as their first T's. You just have to know what your getting into. So like Donk said research what your thinking of getting.
I do handle my Lp, and G. pulchripes when I do maintenance. I would not dream of trying it with any of my pokies, they are far to fast for me to handle them safely.

Handling T's isn't really recommended for many reasons. But if your bound and determined to play with it, let it sit for a week maybe two. Feed it, once it's fed then give it a try.
